Mark Wayne Glasmire: News

2nd Week at #1 for "I Like You". - July 26, 2011

"I Like You" remained in the top spot on The HotDisc Chart, for the 2nd week in a row!  This is the second #1 I have had on the HotDisc Chart, the 1st being last year with "You Opened My Eyes", which was # 1 for 4 consecutive weeks.  Lets hope "I Like You" can go for that long or longer!!

"I Like You" Debuts At #2 on HotDisc Chart - July 12, 2011

Mark Wayne Glasmire's Summer Anthem Gives Nod To Sunny Days, Warm Nights & Jimmy Buffett

"I Like You" Debuts At #2 On HotDisc Chart

Nashville, TN (July 11, 2011) -- Singer/songwriter Mark Wayne Glasmire jumps back onto the HotDisc Chart with a sweet summer sensation, "I Like You."  The calypso-feel and airy vocals bring to mind swaying palm trees, a stroll in the sand, sunny days, warm nights - and Jimmy Buffett.

"I've always been a big fan of Buffett's," says Glasmire.  "Really, who doesn't like Jimmy?"  Mark "channeled" the iconic "beach bum" and nailed the vibe; now he's hoping somehow, someday, someone will play "I Like You" for the big man himself.  "So if you see Jimmy," Mark adds with his trademark grin, "Tell him I've got this song for him!"

With a debut at the #2 spot on the HotDisc chart, it looks like Glasmire has a hit with "I Like You" before Buffett even had a chance to hear the song.  It's a sing-along salute with a great feel, and it's a love song, too:

"I like the feeling of warm summer rain
And I like the sky bright and blue
There are so many things that I like in this world
But most of all I like you" - MWG

"A lot of folks think I just write slow songs," says Glasmire with a chuckle. "And I do write a lot of ballads, but I thought it'd be a nice change-up to release a song with some tempo this time around."  In 2009, Mark went to #5 with the mid-tempo "Everything Is Gonna Be Alright," and in 2010, he released the chart-topping power ballad, "You Opened My Eyes" (#1 for four weeks). Obviously no stranger to international audiences, Mark hopes "I Like You" strikes a chord with new listeners - and helps broadens his overseas fan base.  "There is nothing I'd like better than to be able to take my live show to European audiences," Glasmire says. In the meantime, Mark will continue with an active U.S touring schedule, and put the finishing touches on his upcoming CD, due out later this year.

Help Wanted/Needed!! "On-Air Battle of the Bands" - April 12, 2011

94.5 Country -WIBW-FM out of Topeka, KS, is hosting their annual Battle of the Bands and yours truly is a contestant!  It is a "bracket" type competition, where songs go head-to-head.  The song that receives the most votes advances to the next round.  The competiton continues through the final four (4) bands/songs.  These 4 bands will be offered an appearance at the 94.5 Country Stampede in June.  The final two (2) bands will play in a band play-off on June 17th, at the Golden Eagle Casino, just north of Topeka, KS.

Here's how it works.  When you visit the contest site at: http://www.94country.com/promotions/roadtostampede.html, it will open to the bracket.    There is a voting link at the bottom.  Each voter will be able to rate the songs, in the battle, from 1 to 5.  The song that receives the highest average score advances to the next round.  There is one important kicker, PATRONS CAN VOTE ONLY ONCE PER IP ADDRESS, PER DAY.  This means that multiple votes are not possible, even if you have multiple email addresses on one computer.  It is the IP address that counts.

So there you have it.  I have entered a new song, "Last Of A Dying Breed".  My first round starts on Thursday 4-14-11 and finishes on Sunday, 4-17-11.  Please ask your friends to vote every day.  I will let you know if I advance.

Thanks for your help!

Mark
