Great news today as "You Opened My Eyes" moved to #39 on the Music Row Chart! I have a great promotion team which did all the heavy lifting!
After several weeks of being stalled in the low 50's, "You Opened My Eyes" jumped to 7 spots to #43! Next stop, the top 30! Keep you fingers crossed and stay tuned!
"You Opened My Eyes" has moved up to #67 on the Music Row Chart. This is after 12 weeks, which is about 7 weeks ahead of where "Everything Is Gonna Be Alright" was after the same period of time. We have several stations ready to add the song to there playlist, which should move it up even further. I am scheduled to go out on a radio tour during the week of July 12th!
After a successful 4 week run at # 1 on the European HotDisc Chart, "You Opened My Eyes" has now been #2 for the past two weeks. Good things are happening with this song. Hopefully we will enjoy a similar run in the US. Stay tuned!
"You Opened My Eyes" has moved up 9 spots this week to break into the 80s on the MusicRow chart. This is the 7th week on the chart. In comparison to last years single, "Everything Is Gonna Be Alright", "Open Eyes" is 6 weeks ahead of where we were after the same number of weeks on the chart. This is a good sign as the song continues to gain momentum.
"You Opened My Eyes" moved up from the #3 spot to take the #1 position on the HotDisc chart. This chart is based on ratings that DJs throughout Europe and Australia give each song on the air. This is my first #1 on main-stream country radio. "You Opened My Eyes" reached #1 earlier this year in the UK on the NCM chart.
After 6 weeks on the Music Row Chart, "You Opened My Eyes" has broken into the top 100 at 98. The song jumped 21 spots last week. The next becnch mark will be the top 75, which is the published list. This is a very critical benchmark to hit, as the rest of the radio world will be watching. Keep your fingers crossed!
On Saturday, May 15th, I will be performing at the Wildflower Festival in Richardson, TX. In the morning I will participate in the annual songwriting contest. I am one of 10 finalists. I participated in this contest in 2006 and am happy to be returning for another try. The other 9 finailsts are from all over the US. It should be a fun day.
I will also be performing a 45 minute set on the Bud Light stage, on Sunday the 16th, at 4:30 PM
I have been selected to compete in a "Battle of the Bands" contest. It is being put on by 94.5 Country, out of Topeka, Kansas. There are 16 bands competing in a "bracket style" contest, where songs go head-to-head against each other. The band that gets the best response wins and advances to the next round. The final two bands will compete in a live show at the Golden Eagle Casino, also n Topeka, in early June. The winner of that show will advance to a spot on the main-stage at The Country Stampede, on June 26th, which is touted as the largest music festival in the mid-west.
All I need to do to win is get my loyal fan baser to go in and vote for me. To do that go to: http://www.94country.com/promotions/roadtostampede.html
Well wishers can vote one time per day, per round. You vote by choosing one of the following: This is the winner= 5 points, Good not great = 4 points, Keep trying = 3 points, Maybe someday = 2 points and Forget it = 1 point The song with the higest average point total advances.
My first round starts on Monday May 10th! Please tell 100 of your closest friends to stop by and cast a vote.
I just returned from Merlefest, where I was a contestant in the "Chris Austin Songwriting Contest". I was one of 12 finalists whittled down form over 900 entries. I am happy to report that I won 1st place in the Country music category. "You Opened My Eyes" was the winning song. The prizes included a "Big Baby" Taylor guitar, some extra strings, an interview with American Songwriter Magazine, some cash and a gig on the "Cabin Stage". It was a great weekend and I feel very blessed and grateful to have even been a finalist, let alone the winner!

More good news from yesterday, as I received confirmation that I am a finalist in the WildFlower Songwriting Contest. This is a great event which is held in Richardson, TX, a NE suberb of Dallas. The songwriting contest is a part of a wonderful music festival being held this year over the weekend of May 15th. Hope to see you there.
I have recently been notified that I am one of three finalists in the Country division of the Chris Austin Songwriting Contest, at Merlefest. I will be travleing to Merlefest the weekend of April 30th thru May 2nd to perform "You Opened My Eyes", in the contest. I am very excited about this opportunity. One of the many benefits of being a finalist, win, lose or draw, is that I will have another opportunity to perform at the festival. It is a 3 day event which highlights all kinds of good music. Some of this years headliners include, The Zach Brown Band, Dierks Bentley, Sam Bush, Steve Martin and many others.
The first leg of my "Eyes Wide Open" Radio Tour is underway. I am making stops throughout Arkansas and Oklahoma to promote my new single "You Opened My Eyes", which ships to radio the week of April 12th. I will be stopping by selected stations from April 5th thru April 9th, to say thanks for the spins they gave "Everything Is Gonna Be Alright" last year and to ask the PDs and DJs to ply the new song as well. I will also be doing interviews and live performance on the air. It is an exciting time and the whole team is very optimistic about the possibilities of "You Opened My Eyes".
Stay tuned!

Well-Traveled Troubadour Kicks Off Radio Promo Tour This Week
"Everything Is Gonna Be Alright” hits home. The lyrics are powerful and partnered with the melody is a track you could listen to over and over.” –Dan Diggler, Y96.5/WYZO ( Kalamazoo)
Nashville, TN (October 5, 2009) -- Mark Wayne Glasmire has taken the old axiom, "Have Guitar, Will Travel" to heart, and the well-traveled troubadour heads out on the first leg of his Fall radio tour of Music Row reporters this week. The tour (October 5 - 9) includes visits to 15 stations in four states and supports Glasmire's debut country single, "Everything Is Gonna Be Alright." Mark's guitar, "The Wayne," will be in tow for the duration of the tour. Glasmire hand-crafted the special six-string, and more than a few Program Directors, Music Directors and Disc Jockeys have already placed their song requests.
The tour kicks off in the "Sooner State," with visits on Monday to KITX, KTNT, KREK and KGFY. On Tuesday, he heads to Kansas and visits with KKOW, KVWF, KYEZ and a drop-in at KXBZ. Glasmire wraps Kansas on Wednesday with a stop at KAIR before heading to Missouri, where he'll visit KTKS. He jump-starts Thursday with a early-morning call at the "Show Me State's" KFAV, and follows up with a call on KTJJ. Mark ends the week with a sweep of Arkansas and chats with reps of KWCK, KCNY and KCJC.
"It's a pretty tight schedule," Glasmire says with a laugh. "But I'm really looking forward to meeting the folks who are playing my music and sharing a song or two."

Mark Wayne Glasmire Makes Timely Statement With
Debut Country Single, "Everything Is Gonna Be Alright"
Nashville, TN (August 3, 2009) -- Mark Wayne Glasmire makes a timely statement with his debut country single, "Everything Is Gonna Be Alright," which optimistically addresses today's less-than-sunny job and housing markets. “It's an affirmation of faith and hope," Glasmire says from his Arlington, Texas home. "This song could be about your neighbor, your brother or sister, mom or dad - or even you." Country radio programmers will find the track on this week’s CDX (Volume 480, track 8), or can download it right away from www.airplaydirect.com/markwayneglasmire . National radio promotion will be handled by Debbie Gibson-Palmer, Jack Pride and Jerry Duncan.
"Everything Is Gonna Be Alright" is the first single from Mark's latest CD, LIFE GOES ON, which he co-produced with John Albani (Steve Azar, Monty Holmes, Randy Boudreaux). The 12-song disc includes 10 originals and two outside tunes, but Glasmire's achingly clear tenor vocals and outstanding arrangements are the real standouts. A troubadour in the truest sense of the word, Mark has lived in Pennsylvania and Tennessee (Nashville) before landing in the music-rich world of Texas. He's won over 10 prestigious national and regional songwriting competitions and has recently shared the stage with Guy Clark and Dierks Bentley.
Fans can purchase “Everything Is Gonna Be Alright” and his CDs online at CDBaby, iTunes, Amazon and other e-tailers. They can enjoy more of Mark's music at www.markwayneglasmire.com or www.myspace.com/markwayneglasmire. To schedule an interview, email somuchmoore@charter.net or call Martha at 615-746-3994.
